Words of Stone Book Talk

The Newberry Honor author Keven Henkes writes a compelling story of friendship and self growth in a very unexpected way. Blaze Werla is no ordinary kid, he is an orphan. Well not really, but the death of his mother has left him feeling alone and without a stronghold. Her death and the "scars" he carries leaves a reminder that provides no closure for his mind. Blaze faces his trials with imaginary friends who never seem to "compare" until one day a very unexpected event takes place. Up on the hill where his "friends" lay marked by stones, a message was laid out. REENA, his mother's name was spelled out using the stones of his dead imaginary friends. Who did this and what does it mean? Read to find out!
