This past week celebrating literacy has been magical at OCS. We have contributed to the Million Minute Marathon in Florida, learned about literacy awareness, had a night out with dad and even help decorate OCS.
Over 260 students and cool dudes came out to Rad Dads Read an event held on January 17, 2013 in the media center. We gave away sport tickets and the book fair was a huge success. It was so great to see how many male role models we have in our school community.
The statistics are startling, literacy awareness is essential to break the cycle. Reading and writing are essential skills in order to have a successful life.
The media center is also sponsoring a Literacy Calendar Challenge in which the winner will get a Nook HD! Be working hard on those calendars-they are due February 1.
Happy reading!
